Why should you become a member?

While it is possible to take part in activities without becoming a member, it is advisable to sign up sooner rather than later in order to maximise your benefit.

All students of the University of Groningen and Hanzehogeschool are eligible for membership of Ganymedes. The yearly membership fee is €25 for 2009-2010. Membership confers benefits including discounts on future activities of the association, eligibility to make motions and vote in General Meetings and eligibility to stand as candidates for and vote in elections. Since the external funding which we are able to receive depends on the number of members that we have, becoming a member will also enable expenditure beyond the fee we charge (so you can expect to get back more than you pay in).

Registration

To become a member you will need to fill out a membership form which you can download and print or otherwise collect from the Secretary at one of our activities. Your membership will become active when your membership payment has been received. The details which you send in for membership registration will be stored securely.

Completed membership forms should be handed to the Secretary during an activity. If the Secretary is not present, the President may deputise. The Treasurer is not permitted to take your details for the purpose of membership registration.

Payment Methods

We prefer payment by electronic transfer. If you must pay in cold, hard cash, note that the Treasurer is the only person authorised to receive cash-payment.

To make an electronic payment, transfer the correct fee for the current academic year to account 68.34.81.665 (Ganymedes / ING bank). In the transfer description include the text “membership fee”, the academic year to which the payment applies (e.g. 09/10), your student ID number and, optionally, your name.

In addition, remember to send your student ID number (p-number if you’re a PhD student; and optionally, your name), your study course, faculty and educational institute to the Secretary by e-mail or in person. You will receive notification when your payment is matched to your details. The Secretary is the only person authorised to accept your details for membership registration and the only person authorised to validate your membership after receipt of payment.
